Holidays in France - Getting to Les Hauts du Lac
By Air:
Easyjet flies to Perpignan which is about 1 hour away by car. (Manchester departures)
Ryanair fly to Carcassonne Airport which is about 40 minutes away by car. (East Midlands and Stansted departures)
Car hire is available from both airports and is relatively inexpensive.
If you book well in advance, there are some great offers to be
had with very cheap air fares.
By Road and Ferry/Tunnel:
The Channel Tunnel prices are now very much on a par with Ferry costs
and the journey under "Le Manche" takes only 35 minutes.
Alternatively, you may prefer to break the journey with a 75
minute cruise between Dover and Calais.
The French Autoroutes (Toll) are far less populated than UK motorways
and will bring you almost all the way to Homps. If you want to avoid
the Toll roads, the French Routes Nationale (N roads) are less
congested than UK roads and will give you a better view of the French
countryside and towns. You would need to allow more travel time with
this option and note that most N roads pass straight through each town
on route (some have ring roads though).
